It was a big car with a strange person
& I didn't know why.
There were lights hammering down & offers
of candy & pictures of people I wanted
to know. It might have been dumb but I went.
I was fourteen & I was naked really.
I had directions but no one knew where
to find me. It would sound good
if it was raining but it was bright &
quiet as looming. Kiss me pig, take me places.
Make me as big as the silent ocean
or the one that rolls in sometimes.
Give me the fat percussive bird with his
incessant drums, the resurgent heartbeat
of the recurring numb. I'm as likely as any.
